Communication

For day to day communication relating to pick-up arrangements, lunches, lost property, parentsportal access etc, contacting the office directly via email or phone is the best course of action.  If you have any concerns or queries relating to learning and teaching or peer relationships with the class these should be directed to your child's class teacher via their glow email address or to the school office torphins.sch@aberdeenshire.gov.uk who can pass them on appropriately.  Teachers will endeavour to respond to your email within 5 working days, although this is often much sooner.

Please note that teachers are not routinely monitoring comments added to Learning Journals so this is therefore not an effective way of parents communicating with their child's class teacher.

Sharing Learning

We share learning with families through our Learning Journals app.  Class teachers update this weekly and parents can share learning outside the school through the 'golden moments' tab.

We know families and pupils value opportunities to learn together and share successes.  We plan several opportunities throughout the year for parents to come into school during the day for open events, attend sessions to find out more about how to support their child's learning or develop their own skills and confidence with internet safety, parentsportal or learning journals to name a few.

At points throughout the school year we invite families to join us for assemblies to celebrate our pupils' broad range of skills and talents through shows and cultural events.
